The PSA is back and bigger than ever

After the phenomenal success of the 2022 and 2023 Lexden RFC Open Professional Squash Association tournaments we are delighted to announce that not only is the tournament returning for 2024, but it has received a significant upgrade in both status and prize money! Thanks to incredible ongoing support from Wright Ruffell (Strurricks) Ltd we are able to bring you a PSA Challenger Tour 3 level event with full parity across Mens and Womens draws. This represents a significant upgrade from the PSA Satellite Tour 1 draws we have had previously and we thank both WR Sturricks Design and Build and PSA for their ongoing support.

The two draws are open to 20 of the best players on the professional circuit with a further 4 ‘wildcards’ in each. Stay tuned for exciting wildcard announcements to follow.

After the success of the 2022 and 2023 editions, we can’t wait to see what this year’s competition will bring. The 2023 edition saw WR65 Torrie Malik and WR206 Will Salter take home the titles. Will had been runner up to former WR9 Daryl Selby in 2022 and in 2023 settled ‘unfinished business’ by claiming the title!

Will Salter is looking forward to returning for his 3rd consecutive year “As runner up in 2022 to legend Daryl Selby, and winning the last event back in August, I cannot wait to be playing in Lexden for a third time to defend my title!”

Alongside the PSA tournament draws there will be our biggest and most ambitious graded tournament, featuring 7 categories playing on Saturday 2nd March 2024. This is the perfect opportunity for club players to join in alongside the pros then watch the semi finals of the biggest professional tournament the City of Colchester has seen in recent years. You can enter the graded here – https://www.lexdenrfc.co.uk/product-category/lexden-graded-2024/

Thanks to the generous support of Wright Ruffell (Strurricks) Ltd and PSA, we’re thrilled to offer a $3000 prize fund for both the men’s and women’s draws. This aligns with our shared goals of promoting parity in sport and providing opportunities for young players in our community.
